As many of you know, 2019 was a season of leadership transition for Be In Christ Canada. In September 2019, Doug Sider Jr. concluded his leadership role with Be In Christ Church of Canada and Charlie Mashinter was appointed as Interim Executive Director. The Board and Senior Resource Team (SRT) are grateful for Charlie’s willingness to serve in this role and are pleased to pass on the news that he will continue providing point leadership for the denomination throughout 2020. Charlie brings 38 years of progressive church leadership experience, and is well known for his pastoral care and gifted oversight as Team Leader of our Community Churches. While we celebrate this expanded role for Charlie, we also extend our sincere appreciation to Doug for his six years of service.
Over these months, Charlie, the Board of Directors, and Senior Resource Team have begun a process of re-envisioning our Be In Christ Canada strategic initiatives and thinking through how we imagine our life together as a community of faith. We hope to share a progress report on this at our upcoming AGM in May. We have also been utilizing the time this transition affords us to field test a more collaborative model of leadership that better utilizes the gifts and abilities of our staff team. It must also be noted that we are navigating through Janet Manafo’s absence due to extended illness. Janet plays a key role in payroll and benefit services and so getting up to speed on covering her responsibilities has been challenging.
As we move into the Fall of 2020 it is our hope that, as a leadership group, we can discern the health of our organization, make firm decisions about our leadership paradigm, and solidify the appointment of an Executive Director.
Thanks for your prayers and support for this journey.
