The Percy Family – Joel, Julianne, Caleb, Micah, and Nathaniel
We have some big news to share. Two big announcements, in fact. First, we are excited to announce that we have found a new Director to lead Macha International Christian School. His name is Mr. Sinamwenda. He is currently a teacher and boarding master at a local BIC school here in Macha and he comes to us highly recommended by many local leaders in the community. Last week he officially accepted an offer from our board to start as the school Director in January. This is the culmination of a long search. He is going to be a great leader for MICS and we couldn’t be happier.
Second, we want to share with you that we have decided to remain in Zambia a little longer, though with some changes. Joel is going to be stepping down from his role as Director as of January. He is going to return to the career path he was on before coming to Zambia and shift his focus to retail loyalty consulting. Much of this work can be done remotely from Zambia, with some occasional travel as well. In addition, he will focus on mentoring and coaching the new Director as he settles into his role. Julianne will continue in her role of mentoring teachers and working closely with our Head Teacher. We do not yet have a definitive timeline for how long we will stay here, but it will likely be another one to two years. We all enjoy life here and are looking forward to calling Zambia home a little longer.
With Joel’s transition back to paid work, we will no longer be needing financial support for our family in 2019. For those who are currently providing support, we will be in touch by email in the next few days to outline options and next steps regarding your donations.
We want to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported us during these past four years as we have worked here in Zambia. It would not have been possible without you.
With love and thanks,
Joel & Julianne
